A mother of two teenage daughters, one of whom is at university in Auckland, I have an excellent understanding of the changing requirements of our homes.
Having lived in a very small art deco house where clever design was vital, then extensively renovating and repairing a 1910 post-earthquake "as is, where is", I know the value considered design brings to our lives.
A very fulfilling career in specialist literacy education has equipped me with a large and transferable skillset, perfect for interior design. Listening, identifying needs and wishes, communicating, presenting, problem solving, creativity, time management and discretion are some of the skills I bring to my clients.
International design with an Aotearoa aesthetic
I grew up in England, lived and studied in France and Italy and travelled through East Africa, Borneo and South America before moving to Aotearoa in 1998. European and international styles and ways of living influence every aspect of my work which I blend with an Aotearoa aesthetic. With a good knowledge of the history of design, I create comfortable, layered interiors mixing antique and retro items with the best of new design, playing with colour, pattern and texture. Bespoke furniture can be designed to suit your style and the character of your home. The ultimate goal of Playhouse Design is to interpret your wishes, your vision for your lifestyle and to deliver a design that tells your story.
